Spam Is Not Harmless

It is possible to prevent spam, but it does involve the person to be vigilant in the type of email addresses that they open and who they give out their email address to. It has been shown that spam is considered emails that are unsolicited. It is emails that have been sent to you without you requesting it. Some people will receive more spam into their email inbox than regular emails from friends.

Spam is quite annoying because it can clog up the system for an email provider. It can also clog your inbox if you receive too many of them. Therefore, the annoyance that spam creates can make a perfectly good email system operate at below par levels because of the extra spam emails it has to transmit.

Yet as annoying as spam might be, this is not the worse thing about it. Some hackers have used spam in the past to transmit viruses. It can be simple emails from a friend who is infected and the hacker uses the person’s email list to transmit more of the virus. In other cases, viruses can be spread by clicking links in spam emails stating that you have won a trip or a contest.  It is quite dangerous to click links in emails if you do not know the sender.

In various instances, the virus that is downloaded from the spam email will go on to infect the person’s computer and wreak havoc. In more severe cases, the malicious software can become installed and transmit your personal information back to the hacker. Thus there is nothing good about spam.
